

Pvt. Michael Leone Reported Missing
A War Department Telegram that Pvt. Michael Charles Leone has been missing in
action in Italy since February 23 has been received by his wife, Mrs. Sarah Leone of
219 William Street, Orange. Mrs. Leone lives with an aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Coziello.
Pvt. Leone entered the Army April 7, 1943. His home then was at 185 Claremont
Avenue, Montclair. He received infantry training in South Carolina, and went to
Africa last July. A month later he was sent to Italy.
The couple have two children, Michael Jr. and Carol Ann. Pvt. Leone has a brother in
service, Sgt. Rocco, gunner in the Army Air Forces in Virginia. His parents, Mr. and
Mrs. John Leone, reside at 28 Verona Place, Verona. Two brothers, John and Anthony
, and a sister, Miss Rose, also live in Verona.
Pvt. Leone was born in Newark and graduated from Verona High School in 1933.
Before entering service, he was employed by Van Wagenen & Schickhaus Co., Newark.

Dies in Italy
Pvt. Michael C. Leone of 219 William Street, Orange, who had been missing in action
in Italy since last February, has been reported killed. His wife , Mrs. Sarah Leone of
the Orange address, has been notified of this by the War Department. The soldier was
born in Newark, was graduated in 1933 from Verona High School and was employed
by Van Wagenen & Schickhaus Co., Newark.
Pvt. Leone lived at 185 Claremont Avenue, Montclair, when he entered service April
7, 1943. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Leone, live at 28 Verona Place, Verona. He
trained in South Carolina, went overseas in July, 1943, and to Italy a month later.
Pvt. Leone was the father of two children, Michael Jr. and Carol Ann. A brother, Sgt.
Rocco, is a gunner in the Army Air Forces. Also surviving are two other brothers,
Anthony and John, and a sister, Miss Rose Leone, all of Verona.
